Trumpia's Mobile Messaging Solution Helps a Southern Californian Church Bring Youth Ministries Closer Together

Mariners Church, one of the largest churches in Southern California, is now using Trumpia's mobile messaging solution to spike attendance for fellowship events, encourage daily payer, and strengthen faith among its youth groups.

"SMS is the easiest tool to reach our kids these days," said Blair Farley, Director of Communications at Mariners Church. "That same idea applies for younger groups sharing information with one another. Kids don't always read emails, and social media isn't as effective. With text messaging, you can reach who you need to reach instantly, no matter where they are. SMS works."

Various ministries from Mariners Church have recently taken mobile messaging initiatives into their hands to create a strong sense of community, especially among the youth. Specific mobile keywordsare publicly posted throughout the church to collect as many mobile phone numbers as possible. Now, more members are in the loop about church gatherings and festivities, and targeted messages are being sent to the right groups.

The Junior High, High School, and College Ministries are each using mobile messaging for different reasons, but share a common goal in wanting to provide quick and efficient communications for their ministries. Whether it be to promote upcoming events, increase attendance for last-minute events, or strengthen faith through scripture reading, Mariners Church is now seeing 75% of their student ministries positively respond to these communication efforts.

"Parents of the younger children are almost expecting these text messages now," Farley adds. "If there is an event going on, and they don't receive anything on their mobile phones, they're wondering why they haven't gotten a text."

"Mariners Church has been successful in reinventing how mobile messaging can be applied to all kinds oforganizations and not just for marketing purposes," said Ken Rhie, CEO of Trumpia. "It is refreshing to see the creative ways Mariners has integrated mobile messaging into their community."

Mobile Web, Apps Driving US Social Media Growth

Consumers continue to spend more time on social networks than on any other category of website—roughly 20% of their total time online via personal computer (PC) and 30% of their total time online via mobile—according to a report by NM Incite and Nielsen.

Moreover, the total amount of time spent using social media in the US across PCs and mobile devices increased 37% in 2012 year over year (YOY), to 121 billion minutes as of July, from 88 billion in July 2011.

Though social media audiences via PC declined a slight 5% YOY (from 163.6 million in 2011 to 171.8 million in 2012), the amount of time spent using social channels via PC increased 24% YOY over the same period (from 59.5 billion minutes in 2011, to 74.0 billion in 2012), signaling a deeper level of user engagement.

Five Impacts of Facebook's Open Graph on Marketers in 2013

The past decade has included a massive surge of improvements and advancements to the way consumers carry on their digital lives.

Here we are in 2012, everyone is connected, and everyone is sharing more and more online every day. Social networking sites reach 82% of the world's online population—that's 1.2 billion users worldwide!

Consumers have now become a brand's most influential stakeholder, wielding the ability to influence friends and peers significantly more than advertisers can. That shift in power has caused a corresponding transformation in social networks and how brands use them to engage with and market to consumers.

Facebook's Open Graph, for one, is a formidable force that is changing the way brands and consumers interact. As 2013 approaches, more brands will try to quantify the ROI of their Facebook marketing investments, and the Open Graph provides significant new marketing opportunities to do just that.

Brands can engage with consumers both on and off Facebook, broadcast consumer stories across Facebook, and drive awareness and word-of-mouth (WOM). Brands can also buy Facebook Sponsored Stories to improve the performance of their advertising on Facebook and test the convergence of media types.

Enhance Your Mobile Marketing With These Ideas

There are a lot of people getting interested in mobile marketing today. With that being said it is a field that is becoming that much more competitive each day. If you want to stay ahead of the game with mobile marketing then you're going to want to fill your mind with as much knowledge as you can about the subject, knowledge like that here in this article.

Include a link to your website at the end of your message. You should develop a mobile version of your website that people can easily navigate from a cell phone or tablet. If you do not have a mobile website, most users will still be able to access your regular website on their phones.

Use mobile marketing as a means of communication not a means for profit. Your business may be very important to you, but you need to remember that customers do not take well to being treated like money bags. Using your mobile campaign to actually talk to them will increase your sales more than promotions.

There are many free online QR code generators who also give you access to tracking statistics, so use one of them for your mobile campaign. This will allow you to keep track of which campaigns work the best and where the QR code should be on the product to get the most use out of it.

Identify what your brand is and who you are right away. People usually remember the first and the last things that they hear. You will want your brand name first and the product last. Keep the middle short and directly to the point, because people will not spend a lot of time looking at the advertisement.

Use your message recipient's real name. People like to feel important and recognized, and adding their real name to any messages you send out will give them those feelings. Making your customer feel like you are personalizing messages to them is a great way to make them feel welcome to your business.

To ensure that your ads are successful, carefully match them with the landing page. If you're advertising cooking products, get your ads on a recipe site. If you're advertising a fantasy football system, focus on sports related articles. Carefully matching your ads is more important than going for sites with a high amount of traffic.

When you are sending a text, it is important to get right to the point. Tell your customer why you are messaging, what kind of deal you are offering, how it will help them out, and also how to take advantage of the deal. This will leave your customers a lot happier because you are not just wasting their time.

Now that you have a better idea of what you need to do in order to stay successful when it comes to mobile marketing you should start forming strategies. Apply all that you know and see the results, and if something isn't working out then you're going to want to change things until they do. When you do this, success should come before you know it.

What You Need To Know About Mobile Marketing

Mobile marketing is an essential move to make in today's business environment. Mobile marketing requires quite a bit of effort to be successful. You might not know where to start! The tips below can serve as your entry to successful mobile marketing.

Set the times that your MMS text messages are sent to your customers for normal business hours. Regardless of how enthusiastic customers are about your products and services, and regardless of how appealing your text message content is, it is highly unlikely that a customer is going to be thrilled about receiving a text message while they are sleeping, or as soon as they wake up.

Give people discounts or promo codes along with your marketing messages. Customers are more inclined to visit a website if they can get a discount.

Create a new mobile application. Your customers can use your app to check for specials and promotions. It will also help make your brand more recognizable and increase traffic. You should seek professional help as you develop apps, this can help you in the long run.

Minimize the number of offers you send in a week. The highest results come from messages that are sent a few times a month. Your customers will believe that the offer is only for a limited time and is going fast, if you only send them out sporadically. It is easy for a customer to ignore an offer when they think the next one is just around the bend.

Text abbreviations are not for mobile marketing campaigns, as not every customer will be familiar with their meanings. Any lack of understanding in your advertisement will yield unfavorable results both short and long term.

Use trivia games or quizzes to get a better response from your mobile marketing. If you send a consumer marketing quiz to the cell phones of your customers, many will respond back to answer the quiz. Not only are you entertaining your customers, but also gathering valuable feedback and information on which products your customers prefer.

Always set goals for a given mobile marketing campaign. At first, you need to understand what goals you'd like to achieve through mobile marketing. Your goal may be to increase your business traffic, pull in repeat customers or to interact with customers.

Allow message recipients to leave feedback about your mobile marketing communications. This offers an excellent opportunity to connect more effectively and interact with your customers. Many people tell you to get away, but you need to survey your clients as much as possible.

Make sure your website features mobile-friendly maps if you are looking to draw in local customers. Mobile maps make it easy for local customers to search for businesses on their phone and to locate those business easily.
