Evernote is launching a month-long mentorship program to recruit developers interested in creating products for the Evernote platform.
With Evernote Accelerator, developer teams will be invited to work on their projects with Evernote’s senior developers at the company’s headquarters in October 2013. The idea behind the mentorship program being to give promising developers the opportunity to work closely with Evernote staff to help create the best product possible.
The inaugural teams will be selected from the entrants into the 2013 Evernote Devcup. Winning teams will receive travel and lodging during the month-long accelerator, a workspace at Evernote HQ and a small stipend to cover incidental expenses.
Most the teams represented will earn their space in the Accelerator from a sponsor. For instance, Honda Silicon Valley Lab will be sponsoring a special transportation-focused prize for the Devcup team that creates the best enhancement to the in-vehicle experience.

At the end of the month, teams will present their finished products in front of an audience of investors, thought leaders and journalists.
Despite teams receiving financial assistance to be part of the Accelerator, neither Evernote or any of the other sponsors will be taking any ownership or stock in the companies they work with.
“For us, the big win is when somebody builds a cool integration, ” Evernote platform advocate Rafe Needleman told Mashable. “The more engaged people are with their Evernote account, the more likely they are to stick with us...The benefit we get is happier Evernote users”
Announced at SXSW, app submissions for the Evernote Devcup opened Monday. Any product that integrates with Evernote API is eligible to compete in the Devcup, and ultimately be part of the Accelerator. Between April and June, Evernote will also be holding several Devcup meetups around the world.
